QuackLog ("we," "our," or "us") operates the QuackLog mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Information You Provide Directly

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password (stored securely using encryption).
• Profile Information: Username, profile photo, and bio that you choose to add.
• Hunt Logs: Data you enter about your hunting activities, including dates, times, locations, weather conditions, harvest information, species, and notes.
• Photos: Images you upload related to your hunts.
• Location Data: GPS coordinates for hunting pins and log locations that you manually save.
• Social Information: Friend connections, group memberships, comments, and likes.

Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
• Usage Data: How you interact with the App, features used, and session duration.
• Crash Reports: Technical data when the App experiences errors, to help us improve stability.

Information from Third Parties

• Google Sign-In: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google account beyond authentication.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Create and manage your account
• Enable social features (friends, groups, feed)
• Display your hunt logs and statistics
• Send important notices about your account or the App
• Respond to your requests and support inquiries
• Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience

How We Share Your Information

We will never sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

With Other Users

• Profile information you make public (username, display name, avatar)
• Hunt logs shared with friends or groups based on your privacy settings
• Comments and interactions on other users' posts

With Service Providers

We use third-party services to help operate our App:

• Supabase: Database hosting and authentication (data stored securely)
• Google Cloud: Maps and location services
• Apple: App distribution and crash reporting

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Business Transfers

If QuackLog is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which employs industry-standard encryption and security practices. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Update

You can access and update your profile information directly within the App settings.

Delete Your Account

You can request account deletion by contacting us at support@quacklog.app. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data, though some information may be retained for legal or legitimate business purposes.

Privacy Settings

You can control the visibility of your hunt logs (private, friends only, or public) within the App.

Location Data

You choose when to add location data to pins and logs. The App does not continuously track your location in the background.

Marketing Communications

We currently do not send marketing emails. If this changes, you will be able to opt out.

Children's Privacy

QuackLog is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sales (though we do not sell personal information).
